You now have the opportunity to make this a reality! Video is one of the focus technologies in Cisco, and the Cisco video networking group is expanding our R team. You will have the opportunity to work together with a group of Video industry experts on an exciting product, with the goal to reform the video world. Job Description: Participate on a project team of engineers involved in development of software for Cisco products that may include any of the following responsibilities: Design software responsible for content management and workflow logic for Cisco IPTV solution, which contains video distribution applications for cable and telecom service providers involving multiple platforms. Productize the ideas and solutions through the design, implementation, testing, and documentation phases. Contribute to small subsystem architecture design. Write complete functional and design specs. Develop multiple modules of code. Write major portions of unit and integration test plan. Perform complex subsystem level unit and integration tests. Identify and resolve problems found during internal verification testing at customer sites. Work with cross functional teams including product marketing, devtest, escalation, and documentation teams. May work with external partners and OEM vendors. Provide technical assistance to customers in both pre and post sales situations. Job Requirements: Skills Required: Strong Java development skills. Expertise in Java language, OO programming concepts, and design patterns is required. Expertise in server side technology such as database development, J2EE, and product development experience using Tomcat and/or PostgreSQL. Proficiency in UI development using Servlets, JSP, and Javascript is required. Experience with Struts, Flash, or Ajax is a plus. Experience with reporting tools such as iReport, Crystal Reports, etc, is a plus. Experience with Java GUI, JBoss, SOAP/XML, or web services is a plus. Additional Requirements: Requires BSEE/CS combined with 2+ years of related experience, or MSEE/CS combined with 1+ years of related experience Ability to self-start and learn. Ability to work independently and within a team. Solid understanding of distributed systems and networking principles, plus working knowledge of related disciplines, e.g., computer security, algorithms, database, and operating systems. Ability to apply theories to product development. Hands-on experience working with Unix operating systems. Experience with Linux and system performance is a plus.
