Over the years, the Company has established an extensive distribution and retail network of roughly 5,000 stores in China and Hong Kong through both franchised distributors and its own retail outlets (10%). Overall, the Company had sales of RMB 1.9 billion along with profit of RMB 400 million in 2006 and was stock-listed in Hong Kong in 2006. In line with the corporate strategy to further build and extend a multi-brand, retail-based business model, the company is looking for a high-caliber VM Manager, who will help shift the operational focus from its current wholesale emphasis to wholly owned retail channels. The purpose is to accelerate revenue growth while maintaining direct control over visual merchandising and branding by having their own dedicated stores. THE RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the Visual Merchandising strategy development of the assigned sports apparel product line by working with product partners from concept through to account sell-in. Be responsible for understanding consumer segmentation, developing the strategies appropriate to accounts and account doors. Finalize plans by developing account implementation directives and partner with product engines to influence the development of seasonal product stories. Work with Sales to understand sales plans and key models required to fulfill the business plan, integrate these plans into the product story development, set-up stories in a mock retail environment and help develop the product flow plan. Differentiate these stories based upon accounts, environments and fixture programs. Work with the Visual Directives Specialist to develop account-specific directives to be used for Pre-Line meetings and help interpret seasonal strategies into these plans. Review plans with the Sales teams to ensure that business requirements are delivered. In this role, to oversee the production of all account directives for both Strategic Department Stores (SDS) and Sporting Goods (developed by the Visual Directives Specialist) for the assigned product line or Category. Set the merchandising strategy for all relevant initiatives. Furthermore, to complete the primary story by integrating footwear, apparel and accessories and ensure that the primary initiative product is supported with secondary products to create impact on the retail floor. Be responsible for understanding key seasonal stories and drive the development of appropriate signage to help communicate technology and merchandising stories. Provide a plan for sign usage and partner with the In-Store Communications team for signage execution. Anticipate any fixture needs for new products or merchandising strategies. Brief Space Development on fixture needs, providing time for development and review before presenting at relevant Pre-Line meetings. Provide fixture feedback throughout the development stage and provide merchandising direction to be used in the set-up guide. Also manage direct reports by establishing clear expectations and developing goals to meet accountabilities. Consistently evaluate performance and provide ongoing feedback. Qualifications Bachelor¡¯s degree in Marketing, Business or a related field; two additional years of experience is generally accepted in lieu of degree-level education (applies to 4-year degree or greater). 7+ years¡¯ experience in Visual Merchandising (experience should include development of merchandising directives, POP and window display). Demonstrated strength in product merchandising, fixture development, display development and integrated marketing programs. Ability to effectively communicate vision and influence execution of strategies. Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group. Ability to network and utilize internal and external resources. Ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism. Understanding and application of managerial concepts and techniques in areas such as work planning, project management, delegating, coaching, mentoring and evaluating. Ability to identify effective solutions, collaborate with peer managers, and motivate staff towards results.
