Main responsibilities of the job Managing the Westlaw China development pipeline and plan and enhancements. Utilizes understanding of evolving needs of the legal system and customers to evolve the service and lead the market/competition. Prioritizes requirements and understands trade-offs between cost, quality and time-to-market. Drives overall content and editorial policies for the online service and works closely with the Technology and Content functions to ensure that these are successfully implemented. Works closely with the Technology Manager to ensure that the data is enhanced and enriched to provide added value to customers and revenue opportunities. Ensures the business¡¯s strategies and requirements are fully understood by technology groups to drive platform developments. Tracks market penetration, revenue growth and profitability issues and recommends mitigating actions. Ensures that customer requirements are captured and documented and functionality is delivered according to agreed quality standards. Establishes a ¡®roadmap¡¯ and co-ordinates the submission of business cases for enhancements to the service. Work closely with the Sales and Marketing Director to conduct market and usability research to identify future customer requirements and validate service concepts. Co-ordinates focus groups, user groups and establish good customer relationships to gather new requirements and inform customers of new developments. Analyzes and interprets competitor intelligence and formulates appropriate responses and tactics. Works closely with the Sales and Marketing Director to ensure that the service is positioned and promoted effectively. Establishes and communicates pricing policies. Assists in creating the value proposition and marketing strategy. Provides the sales team with tools, training and support to effectively sell the online service. Experience Experience in product development, product management and or/ sales of an online service or similar. The position will function under the direction of the Westlaw China product leadership and work closely with the following functional areas: o Sales and marketing o Editorial/content o Technology Significant Role Requirements: Any other factors which have a bearing on a candidate¡¯s ability to perform Ability to create and deliver against strategic plans, including business cases for new development. Significant knowledge and understanding of the Chinese legal market. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work productively across functions. Ability to understand the complexities of developing computer applications solutions and online content delivery. Understanding of the product development life cycle . Good problem solving skills to provide innovative solutions to complex business problems. Budget/plan management skills to ensure product development initiatives deliver value for money to the agreed budget. Able to balance strategic&tactical priorities to recognise and re-organise priorities as business conditions change or issues arise.
