University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering or related field. 2. Strong knowledge in mold construction, injection molding process and equipment. Plastic part development, product realization, new mold creation and qualification preferred. 3. 8+ years of experience in plastics part manufacturing, 3D modeling, and development for injection molding. Knowledge of injection molding process as it relates to parts design for manufacturability, product functionality and validation prior to product release. Good working knowledge of polymers, tooling materials. Strong analalytical skills (moldflow, DOE, statistical engineering). 4. Personal Attributes: Good communication and coordination ability, motivated and independent. Responsibilities: 1. Lead / conduct manufacturability assessment along with tooling supplier(s) and product design. 2. Provide technical input for product/part design, molding concept and construction, and injection molding process development to achieve robust and capable processes, cost effective solutions, and high quality products. 3 Identify and develop new resins and materials or technology to improve cost, product quality, supply chain flexibility, and/or molding process robustness. 4. Evaluate/assess new product concepts, conduct and/or assess new tooling options, investments and piece price from technical perspective. 5. Coach and develop engineers; facilitate communication between stakeholders to improve existing plastic parts and generate appropriate support data to gain approval for recommended changes.
