In this position, you will be evaluating, designing, innovating, and building firmware for high-performance mass storage controllers that will optimize performance, endurance and reliability for the target markets. You can expect to work closely with fellow U.S. firmware engineers and system hardware design engineers, product engineers, Flash memory design engineers, to solve cross-functional design issues. Your responsibilities will include developing structured and commented source code, and test solutions. Additionally, you will verify design using a variety of verification methods, including simulation, code prototyping, and product testing. Your focus will also be on firmware quality in the system and the target application. As needed, you will develop new test tools and methods. Using analysis equipment or software, you will demonstrate the ability to effectively analyze and resolve functional or performance issues with the firmware and hardware in test environments or target host systems. You will also have opportunity to participate in system architecture definition and design. Qualifications: Successful candidates for this position will have: At least three years of experience in embedded firmware development. Proficiency in firmware design using assembly and C programming. Proficiency in debugging in an embedded firmware application. Proficiency in using ARM development tools and IDE such as Eclipse, and Realview. Experience in test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic/bus analyzers are optional, but desired. Ability to analyze complex firmware and hardware issues. High level of skill in problem recreation and trapping. High level of skill in identifying performance critical algorithms for optimization. Ability to find creative solutions to difficult problems. Working knowledge of digital hardware design is optional, but highly desired. Knowledge of mass storage systems, Flash memory, and device drivers (strongly preferred). Knowledge of mass storage interfaces such as ATA, SATA, and/or SAS/FC (strongly preferred). o Ability to be a very creative and innovative thinker in all areas of system design and debugging. High level of self-motivation and dedication. Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team. Ability to multitask effectively in fast-paced environment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Hands-on experience in firmware development and verification, system failure analysis, and problem solving.
