In this position, you will be working with fellow engineers, responsible for defining, profiling and tuning of the firmware architecture, make intelligent software and hardware trade offs decisions to optimize performance, endurance and reliability for the target markets. You will work closely with fellow U.S. firmware engineers and system hardware design engineers, product engineers, and Flash memory design engineers, to solve cross-functional design issues. Your main responsibilities will include definition and development of firmware architecture; you will also be working closely with firmware engineers to realize your design. Additionally, you will be required to verify and justify your design decisions using a variety of verification methods, including software platform simulation, code prototyping, and product testing. As needed, you will develop new test tools and methods. Using analysis equipment or software, you will demonstrate the effective analysis of functional or performance issues with the firmware and hardware in test environments or target host systems, and come up with innovative solutions. Qualifications: Successful candidates for this position will have: At least five years of experience in embedded firmware development. Experience with hard disk based mass storage, and interface such as ATA, SATA, SAS/Fibre Channel. Strong Experience with NAND flash mass storage, NAND management, device drivers, operating system, Flash Translation Layer (must). Expertise in firmware design using assembly and C programming. Proficiency in debugging in an embedded firmware application. Proficiency in using ARM development tools and IDE such as Eclipse, and Realview. Experience in test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic/bus analyzers are optional, but desired. Ability to analyze complex firmware and hardware issues. High level of skill in problem recreation and trapping. High level of skill in identifying performance critical algorithms for optimization. Ability to find creative solutions to difficult problems. Knowledge of digital hardware design is highly desired. Ability to be a very creative and innovative thinker in all areas of system design and debugging. High level of self-motivation and dedication. Ability to conduct research, quickly learn and apply new knowledge to solve issues. Ability to work well on a team. Ability to multitask effectively in fast-paced environment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Hands-on experience in firmware development and verification, system failure analysis, and problem solving.
