The Senior Java Engineer will use product requirements and high-level specifications to design and code complex applications which cross multiple systems using agile methodologies. This position requires a broad understanding of Java technologies, servers, clients, and the networking technologies which connect them. Threading, concurrency, and application architectures should be second nature. Implementing GUIs should be quick and painless, whether for Swing or JME. You are enthusiastic about testing, from unit testing during development, to integration testing for complex deployments. Tasks may include but not be limited to: Strong software development skills, including design, implementation, build system management (ant), unit testing, and agile development methodologies. Working closely with server-side architects to evolve the platform Formal requirements gathering, design document preparation, and prototype implementation to ensure stakeholder participation and approval Building new client-side capabilities and components Quickly grokking existing code-bases in order to make the smallest necessary change to achieve stated objectives Optimizing network communications using TCP, UDP, and HTTP Designing and implementing new communications components Qualifications 10+ years of commercial Java Engineering experience including design and development of both client-side and server-side elements. Expert knowledge of design patterns and UML Expert object-oriented design experience Expert knowledge of threading and concurrency Expert knowledge of networking, including TCP and HTTP Broad knowledge of Java technologies, including: Swing JME Java Servlets SOAP and Web Services Network protocols Design patterns JUnit Excellent interpersonal communication skills including individual interaction and written communication skills required. BS or equivalent experience.
