Considerations to include production goals, job layout, operator technique, fleet match and expansion considerations. To fulfill this job incumbent must have depth of knowledge on equipment and application in earthmoving and construction. The opportunity to contact customers provides expert counsel back to the plant on customer needs, expectations and equipment NPI requirements. JOB DUTIES: Provide the above services on a scheduled basis on a demand basis through Marketing Companies, Dealers and Product Groups. Review customer"s projects to understand customers" goals for production and cost of production, logistics of material movement. Goal is to understand customers" objectives and existing project in order to improve contractor efficiencies. Review existing operations in order to benchmark details of how the equipment is being used as well as production rates and efficiencies. This activity will determine if there are significant opportunities to improve fleet operations and efficiencies. Initiate job studies to develop detailed production data for each piece of equipment in each application it is used (i.e. dozing, stripping, hauling, etc). Analyze data from job studies to draw any initial conclusions that will provide the customer immediate feedback. Recommendations may include the need for special operator training, dozing/loading techniques to increase blade load or bucket fill, system match, blade, bucket and body design, road profiles and maintenance, use and interface of support equipment. Safety issues get high priority. The incumbent must be capable of demonstrating the machine as an expert operator. Provide professionally written reports to customers, dealers and product groups. Computer skills are required to support job analysis and reporting. Provide NPI feedback to the product group such as evaluation of operator controls, production comparisons between new and older Cat models, and competitive comparisons from actual job sites. Provide product group industry trends based on customers" operational data and benchmarking. Provide support to dealer&customer application-training needs by identifying needs, developing solutions and delivering training. The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others. Typical internal customers include various contacts throughout Company worldwide and its subsidiaries. External customers include Dealers and their customers worldwide. The position often confronts complex issues or problems that require careful analysis and diagnosis. Problems are often unique and solutions can require original approaches. The incumbent may modify existing approaches or develop new solutions. The incumbent is free to determine the best way to complete job assignments in order to achieve desired results. Work is reviewed after completion, except in the most complex or high impact situations. Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Cost Savings, etc. The position monitors adherence to quality standards and develops action plans for addressing below standard performance. The position travels extensively. BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE: The position requires thorough knowledge of company products and product applications. It also requires in depth understanding of industry applications relative to the particular assignment, eg waste, construction, earthmoving, etc. The position typically requires extensive industry experience and would benefit from having worked in a Marketing Company and / or Product Group assignment. In addition, nine to twelve years of progressively responsible job-related experience are typically required. Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department.
