Work with component owners to establish cost reduction concepts and assess/develop project potential Prepare project scope describing basic idea, identifying high-level actions, risks and mitigation plans for transition to the engineering component owners and project engineers. Establish key actions-schedules for new concepts through conceptual design based on a clear understanding of design milestones, deliverables, and forecasts for implementation. Work closely with Sourcing to confirm potential cost opportunities and commercial teams to validate customer acceptance. Develop engineering cost estimates, and project a reliable assessment of cost savings. Perform system/subsystem trade-offs and communicate results/strategy. Link designs to efficient manufacturing practices by working closely with our internal supply chain and external suppliers. Participate in sharing cost-out best practices, idea generation and lessons learned. Use software based internal tools to capture project management information Work directly with suppliers, understand cost-drivers at their sites, and recommend design changes both on the GE side and on the suppliers" side to affect a cost reduction. QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: BS Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Good communication skills, ability to clearly convey concepts and design methodology in both technical and general terms. Good organizational, and project management skills. Ability to interact with all functions and levels of the organization to build teams around ideas. Willingness to travel and eager to work in a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary, and multi-cultural environment. Self-directed and proven execution capability, solution-oriented.
