The business has a primary objective of delivering high quality solutions, meeting customer satisfaction, and delivery of profitable revenue for SMI. The team has a highly leverage Partner model (75% of resources are external) to enable a flexible commercial model, a flexible skills base, and the ability to grow rapidly across all parts of the Globe. . In order to better support Sun"s HPC Growth Target, the Global Professional Services Delivery Organization is recruiting a senior level HPC Architect, who will primarily act as a technical lead architect in HPC projects and deliver complex HPC solutions for the Top 500 market, but at the same time responsible for establishing a CIO/CTO/Senior level technical consulting relationship. To ensure the growth of our Systems HPC business, close alignment and collaboration with Global Systems and Services Sales, Product Engineering , the Services Sales and Support teams is required to drive the use of repeatable projects across the 16 geographies. Working joined at the hip with the HPC Systems Sales teams, you will co-develop and validate the solutions and services offering drive the design specification and ensure the detail design and implementation can be completed profitably, with high quality and meeting customer expectations. The candidate will provide deep subject matter expertise on the architectural and technical needs in the HPC market, including all delivery and implementation aspects. The ability to span all aspects of a balanced architecture from Compute to Storage as well as Systems Management is required. This position is in the Global HPC PS Delivery organization and you will become a member of a Global Delivery HPC Tigerteam to support countries delivering key strategic deals. Job Description This person must be able (and has the relevant experience and credibility to back it up) to deliver complex HPC projects across customer organizations and across partners. This person must be able to co-develop and take input from others on the vision of various HPC solutions and help establish the customer roadmap, architecture, and implementation plan. Able to take roadmap and project vision/architecture, and plan and implement execution strategy and own technical deliverables Strong interpersonal relationship skills, solution-led selling techniques, and the ability to reason through complex customer issues. Participates in customer engagement planning and supporting sales efforts. Reviews and influences existing customer strategic goals and stakeholder alignment. Collects, analyses and prioritizes requirements with the customer for a given initiative. Displays business acumen and the ability to link solutions to customer business goals, strategies and processes. Drives Quality Assurance audits for the technical aspects of the engagement/project This person should act as the technical project lead, assist Project Managers in the creation of technical project plans and direct resources with a project manager to complete implementation and design tasks. Must be able to articulate technical and personnel requirements and assist in resource planning and SOW tasks. Excellent communication and teaming skills, with a record of technical leadership. Prior technical experience with HPC architecture components, preferably in a HPC lab is a must. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: In-depth Linux skills in clustered environments Experience in Linux cluster systems debugging and problem triage. Understanding cluster management software (ROCKS, OSCAR, PERCEUS) Enterprise Data Center Design expertise Understand power constraints, overhead cabling requirements, raised versus slab concrete floor design, advanced cooling techniques Understand health monitoring/telemetry of racks of systems General networking skills IP network design Interconnect Technologies like 10 GigE, InfiniBand, Myrinet, Voltaire, Cisco, Qlogic. Proficient in English language. System Architecture: PCI-E Gen1/2, Performance and Bandwidth, HyperTransport, Front-Side Bus, Express Modules, NEM, FEM Storage Architectures: SAN, NAS, DAS, SAS, FC, SATA, Bandwidth, Performance File Systems: CFS Lustre (preferred),NFS, ZFS, pNFS, SAM-QFS, IBM GPFS, Panasas Application Profiling, Characterization and Tuning Processor Technologies: multi-core, CMT, memory bandwidth and latency Memory Technologies: FB-DIMMs, DDR2 MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Provide coaching or mentoring HPC Consultants and Engineers to facilitate and expedite knowledge transfer.
