You will work closely with other parts of the embassy and partners across Government in several key policy areas, including immigration and judicial co-operation. You"ll also work closely with the visits manager on high-level inward and outward visits - recent examples have included the Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary and Chinese Foreign Minister. Main responsibilities: General support for bilateral section; Developing contacts with Chinese and UK organisations to support UK"s bilateral objectives; To help develop project proposals and organise a call for proposals on issues such as immigration and judicial co-operation; To monitor the progress of projects by maintaining regular contact with project implementers, attending project events; Events management: facilitating direct communication with Chinese organisations, liaison with internal stakeholders on event planning, development of external supplier contacts (hotels, interpreters, venues etc), co-ordinating logistics (transport, accommodation) and compiling of the programme; Arranging calls on and taking the record of meetings with Chinese officials and academics in Beijing Key Requirements: High levels of initiative, motivation, drive and commitment; Strong analytical ability and proven record on delivering results; Proven organisational and communications skills, experience of events management; Excellent written and spoken communication in both English and Chinese; Knowledge of Chinese domestic and/or foreign policy would be an asset; Good administrative and IT skills; Other requirements: Chinese nationals must be in possession of a valid "Beijing Hukou"; British Nationals, Spouses of British or Foreign Diplomats must be in possession of a valid ‘W" Visa. Obtain evidence of a non-criminal record. May be required to attend some events out of conditioned hours. General conditions: The starting gross salary for this position before all deductions will be RMB8225/month. The successful candidate will be employed under locally employed staff conditions within the British Embassy.
