They are the subject matter expert for all the Product Safety&EMC issues for Microsoft Hardware (PC&Peripherals); Work closely with other development engineers (Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, ASIC, Firmware and Industrial Design) as well as with other disciplines not related to engineering such as Product Planners, Marketing, User Assistance, Legal and Localization to ensure the product meets all expectations for more than 72 countries; Develop Product Safety&EMC plans and is an expert at project planning (providing resource estimates for each program and manage actual spending); Other duties include obtaining worldwide regulatory approvals to meet project specific objectives, works with the EMC Manager and other disciplines to improve methods and processes by developing design guidelines, review check lists, procedures, templates, etc and collaborates with design and manufacturing partners as well as EMC and Safety vendors; The qualified candidate will engage with a portion of the Product Development team and is responsible for identifying and mitigating risk related to electrical safety. Requirements: 5+ years experience as an EMC and Product Safety Designer for consumer electronic devices (PC Input devices or Medical devices); 3+ years design experience with USB, RF and wireless design and test; Highly motivated individual with strong project orientation and communication skill preferred. 10+ years total industry experience preferred; Expert-level safety and EMC standards and regulations applicable to I.T. equipment required; Strong written and verbal communications skills and also capable of delivering crisp content to to Senior Staff; Ability to work in a team environment utilizing strong cross-group collaboration skills; Experience dealing with and influencing worldwide regulatory agencies; Experience working with International vendors a plus. Experience working with manufacturing vendors in Asia preferred; 3+ years experience as a project manager on projects that are full product life-cycle from conception to retirement (managing 3+ people, 50k-500k projects); BSEE required.
