It serves the sign making and specialty graphics, ophthalmic lens processing, and apparel and flexible materials industries. Position: Senior Manager, GBS/PMO - China Reports To: Deputy General Manager China&NPD Program Manager (US based) Summary: GBS is a business management system that employs a strategic focus with Lean principals to improve company’s core business processes. GBS is a business transformation plan which utilizes Lean tools and engages all employees in waste banishment and continuous improvement. GBS is a key element of company’s strategy for improvement and growth. The role of the GBS Development Manager is critical to the success of the GBS transformation plan. This position is responsible to lead, plan and execute the design and development of new training programs and materials required to develop the skills and competencies of China employees. This includes classroom training, and Lean event facilitation. In addition, this role will administrate a GBS Immersion Team in China. Additional responsibilities will be managing the New Product Development (NPD) and cost reduction projects that are applicable to the China markets as a part of the Project management Office (PMO). This activity follows the company standardized NPD process. Location: Shanghai, China Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead kaizen events for various continuous improvement opportunities. Develop and deliver training to analyze and optimize critical business system processes / policies; facilitate development of new / improved business processes using a variety of tools to include Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing. Develop and deliver a country-wide training program to raise awareness and knowledge of GBS. Develop a training schedule with Human Resources. Implement the GBS Immersion program (train-the-trainer) in China by standardization of training materials, employing elements of adult learning techniques and measuring effectiveness to ensure accelerated learning through demonstrated results. Develop and standardize forms and materials required for the GBS transformation. Develop an intranet site for storage, management and dissemination of GBS training materials. Develop an intranet site for storage, management and control of standard operating procedures/standardized work. Develop training for quality procedure/process with process owners and functional managers. Perform GBS and QAS orientation for new employees. Manage project(s) for cost reduction efforts or NPD. Support the Project Management Office (PMO) to improve the NPD process through the development of standardized process, documentation and training. Participate as an internal quality system auditor to sustain quality program initiatives. Facilitate the conversion of “known” processes to maintainable polices, SOPs and work instructions with functional area process owners. Supervisory Responsibilities: As the Manager of GBS Development, one will supervise within a matrix-based environment assigned to the cross functional team(s) from all disciplines including: engineering, marketing, product management, supply chain, finance/accounting, service, technical support, and manufacturing. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. An individual must be able to travel internationally. Education/Experience: MBA or Master"s degree preferred with a BS/BA Degree in engineering or technical field. Five-plus years of experience in both teaching and implementation of Lean Principles and Quality Systems within an operations environment. Knowledge of Six-Sigma with application experience within operations is a plus. Prior experience in an ISO 9001/9004&QS 9000 certified environment. Ability to demonstrate leadership of technical groups&cross-functional teams for quality efforts whilst driving results and gaining trust of management and team members. Language / Presentation Ability: Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and write scientific and technical reports, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to persuade, motivate, inspire and negotiate to achieve results. Ability to effectively present technical information verbally and through written reports to groups at all levels within the organization.
