As a part of the Business Edge Global initiative the marketing and branding of Business Edge PEP-China withing the training community will play an important role in the coming years. The program will also continue to make efforts in helping local partners improve their marketing and sales skills in order to make Business Edge a financial viable business in the local market. In order to assist the PEP-China Business Edge team in building a recognized brand for its management training program in China, PEP-China wishes to hire a Marketing Officer with combined expertise in marketing and adult education/training (especially of business managers). The new team member will closely work with the program manager in the area of business development and development of linkages between IFC"s financial products and advisory services. Program Reponsibilities: Overall objective The Operations Analyst will contribute to the elaboration of the program and contribute to its successful implementation while ensuring teamwork and timely reporting and evaluation. The job of marketing BE China includes a significant business development aspect as the training program is not a set product. Designing new business modes and forging partnerships to enable commercial sustainability and outreach of the BE program are a major responsibility of the incumbent. Typically, the Business Edge Program implements three components: Content Development PEP China develops training products and services to serve its target beneficiaries or its various partners. In FY06, PEP China has initiated the development of three specific products (Business Edge Plus; Managing Growth series; Access to Finance course) as well as a series of TTT (train the trainers) materials. Partner Development PEP China works with a number of partners to implement its program: the training companies and trainers. Market Development PEP China uses a variety of media to promote its products and services to the stakeholders and to dynamise the training market. A main objective of the market development is to expand to western provinces of China or to secondary cities of Sichuan . Further to the expansion in western China the building of the nationwide brand will be a major focus of work. The Marketing Officer should understand the activities of all three components and is expected to be able to support other team members on all three components. Tasks : Market the services of IFC PEP-China and its program through systematic promotion and networking with SME entrepreneurs and stakeholders as well as co-marketing initiatives Identify business opportunities and bring them to the attention of right people. Propose potential new ways of designing/delivering products and services to best fit local environment Contribute to the design of the program or components to answer to the needs identified Manage and implement some component of the program and provide know-how in the implemention of the programs (or sections of the program as determined by the manager) Implement pilot products, services and delivery methods to best fit local environment and address client needs; Select high-potential organizations as partners and work with them to provide new/better service products to SMEs. Participate in the evaluation of programs. Proactively seek solutions to issues and problems; identifies and takes appropriate action to ensure that project commitments are met; Perform other general project administration work as required. Assist the management when required in the preparation of reports and presentation for donors and other stakeholders. Undertake other activities as requested by IFC PEP-China.
