NA POSITION PURPOSE : (State the primary reason for the job, preferable in one or two sentences) KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: (Summary 7 to 10 of the most important duties. Begin each sentence with an action verb; e.g. completes, determines, stimulates, facilitates , etc. Each action statement should conclude with an end result) Deliver project activities to specifications (quality, cost, delivery), on-time and within budget by: Integration of combustion, Performance and Emissions (CPE), Applied Controls and Base Software data into complete engine control calibrations. Provide support to engineers for new rating release work and calibration ownership. Technical team member (leader)of the joint Cummins/OEM controls team which discusses changes to current product engine control systems along with development of controls strategies for future product (Euro 5 etc). Provide Lead Performance, controls and fuel system support (electronic&Mechanical) for all products produced and developed at the Darlington site, using trouble shooting techniques and six sigma tools. Attend meetings with Bosch and organize any necessary issues/actions for engineers. Provide Technical support to production on Hot Test, No Load Leak Test&Engine Test Stand 2 issues with engine performance using statistical analysis and techniques. Provide support to engineers on problem resolution functions for controls issues in production released calibrations. To be the Technical lead on performance, controls, fuel systems and engine electronics for the plant. Lead support on quality and field service initiatives on Early Life Failures and issues relating to performance, controls and fuel systems. Provide lead technical support to customers. Provide lead technical support to the Performance development group and field test work. Provide support to engineers with the release of calibrations and rating releases to meet customer requirements. Lead contact for parts performance suppliers and material handling groups. Provide support to engineers on test cell optimisation activities and NETS maintenance. Lead six sigma and Rapid Problem Solving projects and lead other improvement. QUALIFICATION: ( List the education/training, experiences , culture/language and other skills/ competencies required for the position .) Working experience Minimum of 10 years experience of diesel engines focusing on performance&operating characteristics. Must be an expert in all Electronic Engineer Tools (Nget, ESDN, Unlock, CaltermIII, Insite) Must provide support to engineers on writing releases for calibrations and structure changes. Must be able to lead technical calibration reviews and make decisions for suitable release activities. Must be able to lead technical design reviews and lead release activities to completion. To be able to find the root cause of an engine performance / controls problem and then direct engineers/technicians as to how to fix the problem. Cultural/Language Be a specialist/expert in fuel systems and engine performance Able to prioritize own/others work Able to communicate at all level. Customer contact at director level. Able to create standards and tools. Approves work instructions. Be a leader/champion with ability to lead team.
