Your role will contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of the Symbian OS, in particular within the Internationalisation, Base Services and Database technology streams. Currently the group comprises of a team of Engineers, Architects, Project Managers and Engineering Managers. With the expansion into Beijing the team is now requires high calibre Engineers to ensure the continued success of System Libraries team. Key Responsibilities As a member of the team you will be expected to assist in all phases of the software lifecycle and more specifically will be expected to: Assist the Project Manager and Architect with the development of requirements and estimations. Develop designs that meet the project’s high-level and detailed requirements. Take ownership of a subset of project tasks. Work with other engineers as part of a team and foster positive team spirit. Providing work breakdown estimates based on the design and be committed to meeting delivery dates. Implementing work packages to specification, on time and to quality expectations. Reviewing the designs and code of their peers on the project. Supporting and maintaining software releases. Contributing to the design and development of unit and integration tests and test harnesses. Contributing to process improvement. Adhere to meeting Symbian Design and Development policies and processes. Competencies Software development in C++. Demonstratable knowledge of Software development lifecycles. Requirements Analysis. System architecture. Excellent communication&negotiating skills. Essential Qualifications Holds a Degree or equivalent in an Engineering, Numerical or Computer related discipline or have equivalent work experience Experience Must have relevant commercial Software Engineering experience. The ability to demonstrate advanced practical and theoretical knowledge of technologies utilised in Engineering or Telecom related industries. Experience of working with mature development processes with experience of all stages of the Software Development Lifecycle). Experience of working on embedded systems. Experience developing software in C++ in a commercial environment. Skills Good written and verbal command of the English language. The ability to demonstrate good practical and theoretical knowledge of Object-orientated design techniques The ability to demonstrate good practical and theoretical knowledge of C++ Disposition Team player. Delivery focused. Self Starter. Good technical and commercial awareness. Good communication skills with staff ranging from junior engineers to senior management. Customer focus (internal and external). Desirable Experience Experience within telecommunications industry standards relating to Internationalisation. Creative thinker; some solutions will require thinking outside the box - lateral thinking. Familiarity with mobile data networks 2G,2.5G, 3G, CDMA in particular internationalisation.
