Expedia owns and operates a diversified portfolio of leading online travel businesses in North America, Europe, and Asia , which includes popular brands such as Expedia, Hotels.com, Hotwire.com, and TripAdvisor. Expedia Asia Pacific Expedia is investing significantly to develop its activities in the Asia Pacific region. Expedia Australia started in January 2003 and Expedia.com.au was launched in December 2005. Expedia Hong Kong started in 2003 and in July 2004 Expedia entered China through its investment in eLong.com, a leading online travel company in China . eLong completed its NASDAQ IPO in November 2004, following which Expedia increased its investment to give it a controlling interest in the company. Expedia Japan launched in November 2006 and in June 2007 Expedia opened its operation in India with offices in Mumbai and Delhi . The regional headquarters for Expedia Asia Pacific is located in Hong Kong Expedia Corporate Travel (ECT) is changing the way corporations manage their travel programs. ECT is see k ing a product manager to drive our leadership in corporate travel in the Chinese market. The ideal candidate will spea k the languages of business and technology, with proven s k ills in analyzing, defining and improving business processes. They will posses outstanding analytical and strategic thin k ing s k ills, demonstrating general problem solving and an intense curiosity to identify emerging business trends and ensuing needs. They will be a team player who is happy to role up their sleeves and dive into the action, with high energy and a positive outlook. They will be excited by the opportunity to help ECT become the leading player in the Corporate Travel mar k et. Key Responsibilities: Develop the ECT China website, working with eLong development team and leveraging ECT global development resources, to create: First phase (0-12 months) an informational website showing hotel and air prices with a call to book feature (no online booking), information will be white labeled from eLong; Second phase (12 months+), a website that allows booking, hosted by eLong and also incorporating client corporate and negotiated rates. The websites will be in English and Mandarin. Activities will include design, features, functionality and localization as well as building a business case for phase 2 based on trade offs between features, functionality and cost. Direct customer research and involvement will be part of getting to the right solution. Support will be provided from both the APAC team and ECT global product management. Develop a reporting solution to pass information on China travel spend into ECT"s global data warehouse for clients to access. Activities include data capture of travel spend by client, working with product managers in Bellevue , USA to pass data into ECT global system. Represent ECT China at local trade events including interviews and other PR activities to generate positive awareness of ECT and ECT China. In addition working with the ECT Customer Service Director to develop appropriate marketing strategies for ECT prospects in China and North America/Europe. These activities will include reviewing collateral, press releases and other materials produced by the ECT global marketing team. Manage the ECT China prospect site, creating design ideas, leveraging the global marketing team to deliver site improvements and redesigns, ensuring prospect information captured is correctly passed to the sales database. Lead our competitive research into the Chinese corporate travel market, drive target mar k et research, and develop competitive analysis including service, pricing and functionality. The successful candidate will be responsible for China market inputs to our regular quarterly market review, that is circulated to our global executive team. Work alongside the ECT Customer Service Director to ensure the operations processes set up between eLong and ECT China and our clients are working effectively. Activities include taking an active role in hiring and coaching the small, elite ECT China agent team. Develop relationships with ECT customers and prospects in China , and where needed in North America and Europe . Activities include working alongside the ECT Customer Service Director on sales calls and hosting visits to ECT China. Develop deep and productive relationships with our eLong to ensure the smooth running of business and a joint dialogue on future improvements and enhancement to the service and product offering. Contribute to the development of ECT Asia Pacific and additional country points of sale. Playing an active role in the broader ECT Asia Pacific team, sharing knowledge, expertise and being willing to take on occasional projects as they emerge. This will likely include attendance at ECT APAC, company offsites and other events. Skills and Experience Bi-lingual. Must be fluent in Mandarin and at business conversation level in English. Adaptable to changes in business operations. The successful candidate will be able to accommodate any changes, challenge why they need to be made and think around obstacles as they emerge to deliver the right end product to the customer. Strong communications skills. The role will be reporting to the ECT Customer Service Director who in turn reports to the VP Asia Pacific based in North America . The successful candidate will have: Strong verbal communication skills, pro-active in keeping the Director and VP Asia Pacific up to date with activities as well as clearly raising up issues and concerns early and openly asking for support and guidance as needed; Strong written communication skills, able to succinctly create Word, Excel and Powerpoint presentations that are customer, partner and internal stakeholder ready. Ability to engage in joint problem solving. The successful candidate will be able to problem solve solo and in a group and propose their own solutions. The successful candidate will be open to feedback. Candidate should be a self-starter with demonstrated strengths managing multiple projects simultaneously and driving them to completion with limited direction. Proven track record of obtaining/surpassing targets on a consistent basis. Strong commitment to quality and customer service. Outstanding time-management skills. Ability to travel as needed. Experience with business building, marketing and online technology and products. Experience working in different countries. Expertise in corporate travel an advantage.
