Based in Canada, Westport develops high-performance, fuel-efficient internal combustion engines and fuel systems for gaseous fuels such as natural gas and hydrogen, and offer complete solutions for the transition of commercial vehicle fleets from oil to natural gas. Their clients include many global automotive leaders and they are now looking to expand their manufacturing operations in Beijing. Job Description The company is currently seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to focus on the manufacturing and supply quality of their high-pressure direct injection natural gas fuel system components. The primary functions of the position is: To be actively involved with the design team, participate in design reviews, provide recommendations for revisions to product and material specifications and testing, and contribute your expertise in all areas of manufacturing. Establish the systems required to quantify supplier quality improvement activities. These systems and reporting tools will provide data to aid in quality system certification. Coach and lead suppliers in the development of quality systems and practices to support excellent supplier performance. This role will also perform quality system, product and process audits at the supplier’s facilities, as required to maintain high levels of quality for incoming materials. The Successful Applicant The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor"s or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least seven years experience with precision component/product manufacturing. You will have a strong background in the manufacture of mechanical automotive components, ideally fuel systems. Demonstrated product/process quality knowledge to QS9000 or ISO/TS-16949 guidelines, including APQP and PPAP, is essential. You must also have a strong ability to lead/coach suppliers in problem solving/root cause analysis and closure by effectively communicating within various levels of the organizations, both internal and external. Occasional travel will be required to interface and maintain key relationships with production and other suppliers.
