Project Medici’s goal is using Wifi soft-AP and mesh technologies to extend internet connectivity to millions of new users worldwide. This is a strategic project with executive sponsorship from Craig Mundie. We are also working closely with silicon partners to extend the range of Wifi for a breakthrough in reach. Microsoft Advanced Technology Center (ATC) is launching this project with strong collaboration with Windows networking team and MSN IA team. As Principal Architect, you will drive technology investigation and architecture design, determine future technology roadmap, and lead a team of 10 people to develop the Windows client software that will allow individual consumers to extend internet connectivity to their surrounding areas with an advertisement supported business model. Previous experience in wireless communication, software development, and technology development are required. Experiences in networking, TCP/IP, mesh networks and Windows development are a strong plus. What we are looking for in you: At least 5 years of software industry experience, including experience of working through at least one complete product cycle. Previous experience in networking, TCP/IP, mesh networking and Windows development are highly desirable. Excellent organizational, communication, and motivational skills; a "lead by example" attitude. A deep understanding of software development methodologies, processes and tools. Excellent English and oral and written communication skills.
