Join HP’s global program responsible for the Social and Environmental Responsibility of one of the electronics industry’s largest supply chains. The Supply Chain Social and Environmental Responsibility (SC SER) program is responsible for developing and implementing HP’s policies, code of conduct, and programs for raising labor, health and safety and ethics standards of HP’s suppliers and their factories. As the senior member of the team in Asia, the individual in this position will manage the end-to-end supplier assessment, auditing and continuous improvement process, lead Asia-based capability building programs, and represent HP in regional forums with suppliers, NGOs, governments and other firms inside and outside the electronics industry. The position combines specific content knowledge with strategic and tactical program leadership, requiring collaboration and management by influence across HP product lines and functions and with industry and multistakeholder engagements. The position is in the Global Social and Environmental Responsibility Operations team, chartered with leading HP-wide programs to address supply chain social and environmental responsibility challenges. The team is hosted in the operations team for a single business on behalf of the entire company and engages with all HP businesses, regions and many different functional areas. Key job responsibilities: Within the SC SER team, take responsibility for the Asia-Pacific (including Greater China) and Japan regional activities as an integral part of the overall supply chain SER program. Specifically, Lead and manage an auditing team responsible for conducting, reviewing, analyzing, and following up on 75-100 factory monitoring audits per year. Participate in factory monitoring as appropriate. Manage customer and stakeholder relationships, addressing their questions and concerns, assessing program risks, and implementing changes to program as required Resolve social and environmental allegations or disputes regarding HP supplier practices Provide support and coordination of suppliers for HP’s capability-building programs and other industry initiatives. Organize and present at supplier forums. Create projections of potential challenges and opportunities from information gained via supplier interviews, written reports, and stakeholder input. Prepare written presentations of activities, challenges and opportunities in the region for management and stakeholders. Represent HP’s leading program and perspectives in external conferences and workshops. Oversee factory monitoring protocols and procedures performed by internal HP monitors and external 3rd party monitors in Asia. Ensure that auditors adhere to specific visit requirements and protocols. Monitor regulations governing the region’s social and environmental practices to identify impact on future activities. Provide a regional and global perspective to the overall supply chain social and environmental responsibility (ethical sourcing) program strategy, roadmap, implementation and communication plan. Essential skills and qualifications: Experience with ethical sourcing or similar sustainability field, including experience building program support within corporations and non-governmental or governmental organizations First-level university degree (3-4 years post secondary school) or advanced professional degree, plus at least six years of relevant business experience (or equivalent) Proven track record of managing through influence and building strong relationships with key stakeholders and/or customers, including working with senior decision makers in companies Ability to maintain sight of the big picture while managing the details Ability to simplify and take action in ambiguous situations Experience reducing broad concepts to structured solutions Exceptional communication skills, including written and spoken Chinese and English; able to adjust style to meet needs of audiences ranging from junior team members to senior executives to key external stakeholders Well-developed and demonstrated program management and strategic initiative development skills Proven self-starter, with demonstrated ability to self-manage leading and delivering projects to deadlines with limited guidance Demonstrated ability to effectively manages multiple activities simultaneously with different team members inside and outside the company Demonstrated ability to reconcile conflicting inputs and propose go-forward solutions that meet the needs of the overall group and the individuals Excellent team player, comfortable both leading and supporting Experience creating and deploying repeatable processes Desirable skills and experience: Supplier management or other supply chain operations experience An advanced degree preferably in business, corporate responsibility, environmental studies, policy studies or economics Experience in the electronics sector Experience supervising or managing people or teams Business or public sector consulting experience.
