- College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and 5+ years work experience, or an equivalent combination of certification and experience. - CCNP certification a plus- Extensive hands-on technical knowledge of network systems, protocols, and standards such as Ethernet, LAN, WAN, MPLS, xDSL, TCP/IP, 802.11x, and so on.- Knowledge of network management and analysis tools, including Solarwinds, MRTG, Sniffer, Peribit, NetScout, etc.- Experience working in a Cisco switched and routed environment.- Hardware, software, and network connection troubleshooting experience.- Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, including Cisco switches and routers and Nortel Contivity VPN.- Skilled at installing/configuring hubs, switches, routers, bridges, etc.- Knowledge of Checkpoint firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other network security measures is an asset.- Understanding of Voice networks, PBX"s, etc would be a definite asset. .
