Recognizing the demand for true enterprise-quality Linux support and seeing an opportunity to significantly reduce IT infrastructure costs, Oracle is now offering Linux operating system support. Press Release TEAM OBJECTIVE: The Linux Engineering team at the Oracle Asia Development Center (China) focus on working to ensure the entire Linux OS stack, including kernel and user space tools, runs well for Oracle. Members of this team will be working on QA, Support, Sustaining and Development activities for all Oracle depended Linux OS stacks; interact with Oracle Global Support, Oracle Product Development and Linux Kernel group at Headquarter and other locations; with Linux distribution vendors, respective package maintainer in the community on package maintenance; and with Oracle Partners Network members on Oracle Validated Configuration. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Take part in the test and development of Oracle Validated Configuration 2. Develop test suites to test features Oracle creates in the Linux OS, such as OCFS2, ASMLib, ODMLib, AIO enhancements, RDS network protocols etc. 3. Analyze and report Linux platform issues to the sustaining team. 4. Analyze reported bugs and work with the sustaining team to resolve bugs of Linux platform. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE and TRAINING: Required Skills 1. Good working knowledge of C 2. Shell programming skill 3. Good verbal and written English communication skills 4. Excellent system-level debugging skills 5. Experience with one or more Linux distributions 6. Experience with patching and rebuilding Linux packages Desired Skills: 1. Basic Oracle knowledge 2. perl/python programming skill 3. Good organizational skills 4. Experience with one or more functional areas of Linux (e.g. kernel, networking, file system, gcc) 5. Understanding of the Linux development process 6.
