Position Specifications Job Title - General Manager, Container Services, Overseas Department - Container Services, XXX Group Location - Shenzhen Reports to - Director, Container Services, XXX Group Position Purpose - Head and be overall responsible for Container Services in overseas regions and be an active member of the Executive Management Team of the XXX Group. - Optimize return on capital invested and return on equity and long-term growth of Container Services in overseas. - Develop strategies for the direction and administration of Container Services" business activities in the overseas region, including operation management, sales, customer services, materials management, tool engineering, cost estimation, product engineering, manpower control and technical services to meet the objectives of the company. - Develop and execute plans in line with the strategies for XXX Group and Container Services. - Management of Container Services in overseas regions including operations, production, human resources, commercial, sales, customer service and budget compliance/performance. General Areas of Responsibilities - Lead and manage the Container Services business activities in Overseas region - Maximize profitable business opportunities; strive for accelerated expansion and growth within all areas of responsibility and to constantly pursue highest level of service to the customers. - Manage the execution of established budgets. - Drive and expand sales to existing and new customers and markets. - Lead the execution of new projects. - Drive performance improvement plans including business processes, tools, equipment, systems, etc. - Develop a strong container services organization and recommend requirements for training and development. - Communicate and maintain favorable relationships with customers/ terminals/depots/business partners/local authorities and others that have influence over our business activities. - Facilitate good communication and work jointly with internal departments and cross silos. - Formulate strategies for optimization of our resources and capacity. - Display leadership and maturity when managing and motivating associates. - Formulate and execute the marketing strategies and promotion function that support company corporate objectives and ensure company image is kept. - Direct and administer CS business activities, including operations, sales, customer service, materials management, quality control, tool engineering, cost estimation, product engineering, manpower control and technical services. - Ensure the business is protected by appropriate legal documents. - Ensure updated central customer / competitor data base to keep keen competitor focus and benchmark. - Ensure subcontractors, if used, are chosen basis good quality and low costs. Ensure regular monitoring and spot checks of subcontractors. - Develop and groom management and supervisory talents necessary to obtain short- and long-term goals by effective direction, counseling and training. - Ensure CS is adequately staffed, in number and competencies, to handle existing and future business. - Perform staff appraisals in accordance with the company"s procedures. - Keep a good working environment and atmosphere. - Analyze and appraise, regularly and systematically, the effectiveness of CS to ensure that established objectives are met, that corporate policies are observed and that immediate corrective actions are taken. - Administration and control including reporting and legal compliance. - Implement, promote and live the Values and our Vision. - Keep environment control and ensure the company and its employees are not violating the local rules and regulations regarding noise, sewage pollution, chemical waste, etc. Always keep abreast with the latest rules and regulations. Specific Areas of Responsibilities - Set up operations in overseas potential key locations in overseas region. - Overall responsible for the management and supervision of all the CS offices. - Ensure CS operations are run most cost effective way - yet with a long-term view on business expansion. - Ensure our engine room is in tip top shape with zero defects, improving procedures where relevant to avoid re-occurrence of mistakes. - Undertake market research, market analysis and forecast with a view to determine both short-term and long-term opportunities in line with the company"s strategy. - Direct negotiation with customers, suppliers and business partners including JV partners. - Promote total solution (bundled) packages to our customers. - Identify and secure new customers. Best practice share with other locations. - Upkeep high integrity and service standards. - Ensure customer complaints are handled fast and in an appropriate and professional manner to minimize the inconveniences and dissatisfaction for the customer. Learn from it and make preventive actions. - Ensure a close coordination with the CS Director and CFO in all financial related matters in order to ensure that synergies are exploited whenever this is possible. - In close cooperation with Finance ensure that the accounting is up-to-date, correct and in accordance with the local rules and regulations, and with the set of rules for good accounting practices as issued by the group. - Ensure that vouchers (on the appropriate authority level) are available for all payments and that these are checked and controlled. Always use common sense in company spending and seek cost savings. - Annually, responsible for making capital and financial budgets for the next 5 years. - On a monthly basis make up the CS monthly report for the CS Director. - On a weekly basis update KPI"s for CS and present same in the weekly Executive Management Meeting. - Ensure housekeeping standards are fully optimized throughout the businesses and strengthen procedures, reporting, quality and service. - Ensure a clean "bill of health" in connection with internal and external audits and the findings are dealt with. - Ensure the working environment is safe, healthy and pleasant for the workers and staff. The offices and all working sites have to be orderly, clean and organized - becoming a role model for the industry. - Ensure that no debt and or guarantee obligations are entered into, exceeding ordinary business obligations, without the approval from the CS Director and the MD. - Coordinate all insurance matters with the CFO to ensure that all statutory insurance for all CS shops are taken out and maintained in full force. Also responsible to ensure adequate insurance cover is provided and maintained at competitive premiums in accordance with the corporate insurance policy. - Ensure that customer survey takes place at least annually and record and act on the results. - Make a deep dive into Materials Management/Bill-of-materials consumption/wastage/improvements/control. - Make a deep dive into CS legacy information Technology; software/hardware/integration, comparison with competitors, formation of an IT strategy.
